The Aachen Chamber Choir was founded in 1981 and is under the direction of Martin te Laak since 1996. Approximately 30
singers perform challenging choral works of both sacred and secular nature from all
eras and styles. The choir is a member of the Association of German Concert Choirs (VDKC) and
a co-founder of the International Choir Biennale in Aachen.

The Aachen Chamber Choir is distinguished by a broad repertoire ranging from the Renaissance to the avant-garde,
which includes jazz and pop arrangements as well as folk song settings, with the focus on a cappella choral music
in addition to works occasionally accompanied by instruments.

Time and again, the Aachen Chamber Choir has successfully participated in competitions and festivals.
As early as 1998, it won first prize at the North Rhine-Westphalia Choir Competition.
In 2010, it was the category winner at the International Robert Schumann Choir Competition in Zwickau. In
July 2014, it won first prize at the International Choir Competition for Sacred Music
“Laudate Dominum” in Vilnius.

Through numerous concerts at home and abroad (the Netherlands, Italy, France, Austria, Hungary,
Egypt, Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia), the choir has made a name for itself.
Its audiences always respond enthusiastically to its highly varied repertoire.
